The 16 Personality Types

There are 16 personality types, inspired by the works of Carl Jung with subsequent products based on those types trademarked by Myers-Briggs.

If you’d like to learn your type, go click “Quizzes” above to take one or both of these 2 free personality type tests.

The 16 types are derived from four pairs of preferences/dichotomies:

  1. Extraversion (E) versus Introversion (I)
  2. Sensing (S) versus Intuition (N)
  3. Thinking (T) versus Feeling (F)
  4. Judgment (J) versus Perception (P)
This image does a good job at describing each of these 8 preferences:

If you add up every combination of those four preferences/dichotemies, you get the 16 types — the ones you see in the right-hand column and elsewhere on TopTypes.
